Bulk Material Facilities

SMI has been designing and building cement storage and blending facilities for over twenty five years.

Coupled with our knowledge and field experience of what works best, we also leverage the latest available command and control technologies to give you a truly state of the art product.

Before we begin manufacturing, we model your plant or facility in 3-D. This will be a collaborative process using real and virtual tools. Prior to and during construction, we provide the engineering and technical support for the plant to assist you in your permitting process. At completion this dialog ensures all goals are met and everyone is on the same page. Depending on everyone’s location we often do this work over video conferencing.

A comprehensive QA document package with all manufacturer’s warranties and product support information is supplied after completion.

Our proprietary cement bulk plant operating software integrates your plant, via the internet with your company’s business model in many useful ways.

For instance, sales orders can be written and scheduled directly into the plants operating system remotely to be blended and loaded as automated batches complete with detailed shipping papers. Data acquisition records all inventory movement in and out of the plant and records the customer/job information in detail to be used for trend analysis, forecasting and a backup to customer records.

As an ASME Code accredited manufacturer we build and test your plant entirely in-house and install at your location with qualified, experienced SMI personnel. We use only top of the line components in our designs such as: Gardner Denver bulk and instrument air compressors, Dekker vacuum pumps, Cochran Rice Lake weighing systems, MetroPlex dust collection systems, Rosemont DP transmitters and Allen Bradley Rockwell control logic processors.

Once your plant is operational we continue to provide technical support for operator training, device calibrations and tweaking (aeration timers, DP set points, etc.). When you call for assistance we share your desktop monitor via the internet and walk you through any changes that need to be made just like we are there with you.
